Anomally Records specializes in the curation, education and presentation of Psych, Punk and Noise Rock. Curating Hardcore, Post Punk, Stoner Rock, Prog, Sludge, No Wave, Post Hardcore, Heavy Psych, Garage and the Avant Garde music of the independent universe.
Anomally is a record label,
concert promoter, video
and media company.
1. Build infrastructure outside monopoly consolidation and uphold fair competition.
2. Build legal, financial and cultural independance.
3. Build awareness that leads audiences to demand the cutting edge.
This is made to prioritize and reward the desires of high literacy fans over casual audiences.
In New York, Los Angeles and London I lived in studio booths and film editing rooms. I shot live sessions, interviewed underground bands, cut DIY documentaries.
That’s how I learned what the indies were really like.
I needed to bring that grassroots spirit back home in Saudi Arabia. Organizing in Discord and WhatsApp groups. Flying over to meet and to understand the struggles of the bands in Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, UAE and interviewing bands from Lebanon and Morocco for the regional music press. Vetting and only finding a tiny orbit of serious artists who still believed that visionary and honest music is more important than celebrity status.
We started from a spirit of resistance.
